About 121212.community

The local layer of an ecosystem built for the Black community, by the Black community.

121212.community is the answer to a simple question: when a Black traveler lands in an unfamiliar city, where do they go to find what's real?

Not a generic travel blog. Not an algorithm that doesn't know the difference between a jazz bar and a hookah lounge. Not a platform that treats Black culture as a subcategory.

121212.community is a network of locally curated city hubs — each one owned and operated by someone who lives in that city, loves its Black community, and has skin in the game. Each subdomain is a front door: atlanta.121212.community, chicago.121212.community, nola.121212.community. Behind each door is a curator with a point of view.

This isn't a directory. It's a living, breathing city guide — shaped by the people who know it best.

The 121212 Ecosystem

121212.community doesn't stand alone. It's the local layer of a larger ecosystem of domains, each purpose-built for a different dimension of Black culture and commerce.

Why Subdomains?

Centralized platforms have failed the Black community before — algorithmic suppression, content moderation bias, platform dependency. The subdomain model is a deliberate counter: decentralized ownership, local control, community investment.

When you own atlanta.121212.community, you own the front door to Atlanta's Black cultural ecosystem. You decide what gets featured. You decide the narrative. You build something that has real value to your community — and to you.

Who Should Own a City Hub?

If you're a content creator, community organizer, event promoter, cultural journalist, entrepreneur, or simply someone deeply embedded in your city's Black community — this is for you. The best curators are the ones who are already doing the work. We're giving them the platform to own it.
